Sick of Feeling Alone? That’s a Good Sign!
If you are reading this and feeling a deep, heavy sense of isolation - if you are "sick of feeling alone" - I have something surprising to tell you: That feeling is actually a sign of your healing. It sounds strange, doesn't it? How can feeling lonely be a good sign?
The Evolution of Your Recovery
In the earliest stages of chronic illness like Long Covid (or during the early stages of spiritual awakening) we are often in ‘survival mode’. Our nervous system is so overwhelmed that we pull inward, like a wounded animal in a den. At that stage, you don't feel ‘alone’ - you just feel extinguished.
When you start to feel the ache of loneliness, it means your ‘Social Engagement System’ is waking up. Your body is moving out of the total freeze state and starting to signal that it is ready for connection again. You may have made some gains and healed some aspects of your physical body, and now are ready to stop being in a ‘hermit’ phase and reach out to others.
That "sick of being alone" feeling is actually your inner spirit knocking on the door, ready to re-enter the world!
What My Clients are Telling Me
Lately, the people I work with in my Healing and Wellness Mentorship have been sharing a common theme: they have so much information, but they are lonely in the execution.
We live in an age where we have access to an unbelievable amount of data on chronic illness, nervous system regulation, and supplements. But as one of my recent clients shared:
"I've been using Sarah's Wellness Mentorship program for over a month now and it has quite simply changed my life. I was in a tough dark period when we first met and I almost cancelled because I was so incredibly nervous about fully opening up to someone. My journey has been wild and I have some pretty good skills of my own but it was only with Sarah's help that I was able to start to put it all together with clarity and coherence." - Wayne
This is why community and mentorship matter. You don’t need more Google searches; you need a mirror. You need someone to help you filter the noise and find the specific tools that work for your unique body and journey.
From "Dark Periods" to Clarity
Many people almost cancel their first session. Why? Because when you’ve been alone in a "dark period" for so long, opening up feels vulnerable. It’s scary to let someone into your "wild" journey.
But as my clients often find, once you break that wall of isolation, the healing accelerates. They tell me that having someone who is "authentic, transparent, and doesn't pull punches" — but delivers it all with kindness and care — is what finally makes the pieces of the puzzle click.
Why Healing is a Team Sport
Science and ancient wisdom both agree: we don't heal in a vacuum.
Coregulation: When we sit together (even virtually), our nervous systems ‘talk’. My calm helps your calm.
Coherence: A mentor helps you turn a "wild journey" into a coherent path.
The ROI of Connection: Interestingly, many clients find that the simple advice received in a state of connection "pays for itself" many times over, simply by saving the energy wasted on trial and error.
Transforming Isolation into Community
I found my deepest purpose when I realized that my recovery from Long Covid wasn't just for me. This is why I started the weekly Thursday Yoga for Long Covid Classes, which eventually led into the Yoga Sanctuary Space that I wished I had when I was at my lowest.
If you are tired of being alone, you are simply ready for the next phase of your journey: Collective Healing.
